As we enter into 2017 what do we do with all our electrical waste?
Recycling electrical items that are old or are no longer wanted is helping the environment by preventing potentially hazardous waste entering landfill, and you can help by recycling your old and unwanted items.
Can it be recycled? If you answer ‘YES’ to these questions, it’s recyclable:
- Does it have a plug?
- Does it use batteries?
- Does it need charging?
- Does it have a picture of a crossed out wheelie bin on it?
What is WEEE?
The
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
which was first introduced in 2007, governs how manufacturers
and retailers in European countries behave in regards to recycling.
